RMS Safer Drivers Course For Learners

The RMS Safer Driving Course has been prepared to lower the crash rate of young drivers in NSW, Through exploring the behaviours and strategies that lead to becoming a safer driver, as well as videos, activities and on-road coaching sessions. By the end of the course drivers will know the low risk driving strategies including speed management, crash avoidance space, decision making, gap selection and responding to hazards, AND receive 20 hours towards their logbook.

About Our School

Since 1989, Peters Driving & Training has been providing driving lessons under North Shore Driving School and Peters Driving School in the North Shore and Northern Beaches. In 2001, our organisation became a Nationally Accredited course provider of TLI41216 Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics – Road Transport Car Driving Instruction, training hundreds of new driving instructors in NSW.

20 hours off your logbook

Currently learner drivers have to do 120 supervised hours. Under this NSW Government supported initiative, young drivers have the option of reducing their supervised driving hours from 120 to 100. Combined with just 10 hours tuition with a learner driver instructor this reduces your minimum hours down to just 80!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

The cost for both Module 1 (in class theory) and Module 2 (on the road) of the Safer Drivers Course is $140.00 incl GST. This cost is set by the RMS.

Who is legible to do the course?

Learner drivers who are under 25. Although, there is a minimum requirement of 50 hours to be logged in the learner logbook in order to participate in the course.

Why should I do the course?

Apart from receiving 20 logbook hours, learners will develop a better understanding of safe driving behaviours and strategies to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash.
